Start you EV transition
In the world of electric fleet solutions, VEV, a prominent player in the field, has shared invaluable insights on the essential steps fleet owners must undertake for a seamless EV transition to electrification. With a focus on addressing challenges related to inflation, infrastructure, and investment, VEV has outlined practical measures that fleet managers should implement within the next 12 months.
Mike Nakrani, the CEO of VEV, emphasised,
“When electric fleets are implemented correctly, they can yield savings in energy and maintenance costs, enhance sustainability credentials, and open doors to low-carbon contracts. Moreover, the shift towards electrification, coupled with digitisation, results in more efficient operations, leading to lower costs and higher profit margins compared to today’s diesel fleets. Fleets that grasp this concept now will not only maximize their value over the next two years but also gain a competitive edge over their counterparts.”
Nakrani continued,
“Power supply, cost optimisation, and upskilling for electric vehicles (EVs) are the pivotal aspects that fleets need to prioritise in the coming year. External support, such as the government’s recently announced £70 million scheme to enhance motorway service area charging and its commitment to installing 300,000 public EV chargepoints by 2030, is commendable. These initiatives will contribute to reinforcing confidence in the range of EVs.
“Nevertheless, fleets must proactively devise their own optimised charging solutions and select vehicles that align with their financial constraints. Collaborating with an electrification partner to enhance the skills of their teams in acquiring vehicle and energy data, interpreting it, and leveraging it for informed decision-making is equally crucial.
“We anticipate a surge in the adoption of electrification-as-a-service next year as a strategic move to manage the upfront financial burden. This model shifts the investment in EVs from capital expenditure to operating expenditure through a managed service, rather than outright purchase of the entire fleet and infrastructure. Fleet managers are increasingly expressing interest in this approach.”
