Tesla Model 3 tops EV charts

Unveiling the top iicks: UK’s most popular cars and EVs of the year

In a recent study shedding light on the automotive preferences of UK car buyers, the Tesla Model 3 emerged as the leading choice among electric vehicles (EVs) in 2023. The findings, based on extensive searches conducted on the cinch website, showcase the Model 3’s popularity, surpassing other notable contenders in the EV and hybrid categories.

The cinch website’s data, compiled from millions of searches, revealed the Tesla Model 3’s dominance in a poll that included vehicles like the Toyota C-HR, Nissan Leaf, VW Golf, and Mitsubishi Outlander. Notably, the top 10 list also featured the Hyundai IONIQ, Toyota Yaris, BMW 3 Series, Kia Niro, and Toyota Corolla, each contributing to the diverse landscape of preferred electric and hybrid models.

Commenting on the findings, Sam Sheehan, motoring editor at cinch, stated,

“We’ve unpacked millions of searches to reveal UK car buyers’ most-wanted car models, brands, colours, and features of the year. ”

Noteworthy is the consistent appeal of the now-discontinued Ford Fiesta, which retained its title as the most popular car for the second consecutive year, according to the comprehensive search data.

Delving into the used car market, the study highlighted the most sought-after models in 2023. The Ford Fiesta once again claimed the spotlight, joined by other favourites like the VW Golf, Ford Focus, Mercedes A-Class, and BMW 1 Series. These reliable and time-tested models demonstrated enduring popularity among UK motorists in the used car segment.

Further insights from the study unveiled Audi as the overall most popular brand on the cinch platform, making a remarkable leap from fourth place in 2022 to secure the top spot. Sam Sheehan emphasised,

“In the EV/hybrid used car market, Tesla’s Model 3 came out on top,”

showcasing the growing prominence of electric and hybrid options in the automotive landscape.

As we navigate the ever-evolving automotive preferences of UK car buyers, these findings provide valuable insights for both consumers and industry stakeholders. Stay tuned to the cinch platform for ongoing updates on the latest trends, innovations, and the shifting landscape of the UK car market.
